Locating Lost Pets: Services and Fees
Below is a list of the services I provide in locating lost and/or stolen pets.
On-site searches with a trained search dog for dog and cats and other pets, large and small.
This service would be for newly lost pets for less than one week, including stolen pets. This would also be used for fresh sightings of pets lost for more than one week. If the pet has been missing for more than a week, then see the section Cold Case Investigations
Fee:
$65 per hour with a four hour minimum
$0.90 per mile
Phone and email consultations (available nationwide)
This service would be for newly lost pets when a physical, on-site search if not possible. This includes a full behavioral profile of your pet and the individual situation to help you focus your resources in the proper direction.
For cold cases for pets missing more than two weeks, please see the section on Cold Case Investigations.
Fee:
$50 per hour and $25 for each following half hour (one hour minimum)
Cold Case Investigations
This type of case would be for pets who have been lost for more than two weeks, either lost or stolen. I would perform a thorough review of the case from beginning to present time including:
- Reviewing exactly what has been done in the current search.
- Making sure fliers and posters are updated and still current.
- Reviewing shelter records of all the animals who have come and left during the time your pet has been missing.
- Making sure your case remains current at all shelters in your area, public and private.
- Performing a review of the physical area with maps to review the different routes your pet could have taken and where to put posters and distribute fliers.
- Posting online to rescue groups and various lost pet websites to keep your fliers current.
- Considering the option your pet has been removed from the present search area and then decide the next steps to take like extending the search area and poster and flier distribution.
- Bringing a search dog back into the area to look for animal remains that may be hidden. This would be a final option if a thorough review and update of the case still does not yield any results.
Fee:
$50 per hour and $25 for each following half hour (phone consultation, one hour minimum)
$65 per hour if a dog is brought back
$0.90 per mile

Microchipping
$49.95 includes lifetime registration
A microchip is a rice size piece of technology that carries a number identification that can be traced back to you, the pet's person. The microchip is inserted between the shoulder by a small needle. When a scanner is run over the location of the chip, a number shows up on the screen on the scanner and then that number can be traced back to you through a registry company.
Typically an animal shelter or veterinarian's office can scan an animal to see if the animal has a microchip.
Tattooing
A tattoo is a permanent mark with a unique combination of letters and numbers that can be traced directly back to you, the pet's person. Typically, the tattoo is placed in either the pet's ear or on the inside flank.
Individual Animal:
$35.00 (includes lifetime registration with Tatoo-A-Pet)
